Located in the mountains of Northeast Alabama are 46 acres of woodland on the brow of Lookout Mountain with spectacular views, soaring hawks, abundant plant and animal life and the loving supportive healing energy of the land and sky.

This modern facility features a large living room, a spacious fully equipped kitchen, both with wrap around windows that reveal a breathtaking view of the valley 1200 feet below. The main house and cabin include some semi-private accommodations as well as bunk/dorm space. (Can house 18 – 20 guests) A hot tub for six with a cliff view on the wrap around deck is one of many amenities that are offered at Skye Island.

Also available for your choice: Large activity building with one open room suitable for airbeds and sleeping bags. (You bring your own airbeds or sleeping bags) Full bathroom with shower, screened windows with mountain air, ceiling fans and electric lighting. Bring your own bedding. This room will be available for both men and women. Sleeping space in this building is first come, first serve, choose your own space, and includes all meals in the main house.

Skye Island now has a 48 foot diameter Chartres style permanent in-ground labyrinth. Feel free to walk this labyrinth at your convenience.

We will do all we can to make your stay with us comfortable, playful and relaxing and conducive to the renewing of your spirit in the love. Accomodations at Skye Island Retreat Center in Cloudland, Alabama

Breakfast is optional and will be a co-operative adventure. Hot cereals, eggs, toast, bagels, fresh fruit along with milk, juice and coffee will be available in each of the three kitchens for your own fixing. Lunch and supper will be prepared for you by our staff. Build-your-own sandwiches, salads, fresh fruits, cookies & brownies, hearty soups, stews, casseroles and side dishes are a sample of what you will enjoy.

Coffee, tea and some snacks will be available during the day.

The facility is smoke free and pet free for your comfort.

Bedrooms are retreat oriented with multiple beds in each room. Check with Glenda for particulars on room assignments.

Accomodations in the near vicinity are limited. There is a Bed and Breakfast within 10 minutes driving time which we can recommend if you do not choose to stay at the retreat. The closest motel is in Fort Payne, Alabama, or Summerville, Ga and will be at least 30 minutes drive time from the resort. There are no restaurants in the area open for lunch, so please plan to eat at the resort or bring a bag lunch.

Bring a journal; markers or crayons or colored pencils; musical instruments like drums, rattles, bowls, flutes; a special outfit /scarf/wrap to wear for the sacred forgiveness ceremony; house shoes for inside wear; and hiking shoes if you want to explore the woods and walking trails.

In September the weather can still be hot, or it can be cool, especially in the evenings, so bring layers and a light jacket for evening wear.
